Vertebrate ichnofossils are potentially more abundant than any other vertebrate fossils and they may be preserved in rocks in which direct fossils (ie. body parts) are usually not preserved. They provide us with essential information that would not be possibly obtained any other way.
The goal of this workshop is to review major the state of art of palaeoichnology, focusing mainly on vertebrate trace fossils.
The session will cover several different topics as: questions about footprints and trackways descriptions and definitions, trackmakers affinity, behavioral and palaeoenvironmental interpretations, new methods of trace fossils documentation (photogrammetric and digital models) and also questions regarding the conservation of this palaeontological heritage.
